
To support our community and our parish life, we follow an organizational structure common to most churches. We have 1 Parish Council which over sees the Education Commission, the Finance Committee, and Facilities and Grounds. We also have the Liturgy Commission and the Social Justice Commission.
PARISH COUNCIL
The Parish Council represents the people of the St. Brigid Parish community by making recommendations to the Pastor. Members are nominated and elected by the Parish community and serve two-year terms.

EDUCATION COMMISSION
The Education Commission develops and defines the policies which
govern the operation of the Parish’s educational programs. The
commission provides counsel and advice in the operation of the
educational programs when appropriate and is a coordination body for
all educational programs for St. Brigid Parish.

Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA)
The Rite of the Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the
process by which the community helps adults to discern the
call of the Holy Spirit and respond in faith. Through the RCIA,
our faith community welcomes adults to full membership in
the Church.

Sessions begin in early fall and continue through the year, culminating at the Easter Vigil Service on Holy Saturday with the celebration of the Sacraments of Initiation. RCIA meets weekly on Thursday evenings at 7:30 pm. The entire parish community is welcome to attend.

Adult PSR
A weekly meeting of adult parishioners who study the
Roman Catholic Church and discuss the readings for Mass.
The sessions are held on Sunday mornings before liturgies
in the School from 8:30 am to 9:45 am and follow the
general schedule of the Parish School of Religion. These
meetinge are especially helpful for those whose children
are attending the PSR program at the same time.

Tuesday Morning Bible Study
The Bible Study Group meets weekly to read, reflect upon,
and discuss the scripture readings. We are currently
focusing on bible studies by Dr. Scott Hahn and have
recently studied the Gospel of Matthew, Ephesians and
Romans. We welcome adults and teens. Meetings are held
every Tuesday after the 7:30 am Mass in the Chapel.

Tuesday Night Prayer Group
Those interested in learning and practicing evening prayer
rituals are invited to join the Tuesday Night Prayer Group. We
focus on the Liturgy of the Hours, evening prayer, guided
contemplation, the blessing of the Novena, and other types of
prayer. Gatherings are held every Tuesday night at 7:00
pm in the School.

Bible/Faith Studies
A group meets on Wednesday nights to study different facets
of Catholicism, prayer, and Christian teaching. Recent focus
has been on the Theology of the Body and a Lenten retreat,
with Archbishop Sheen’s presentations. Meetings are held at
7:00 pm.

St. Brigid Book Club
Open to all Parishioners, the St. Brigid Book Club meets on the
second Tuesday of each month in the modular at 10:00 am.
Books are chosen by consensus and can be secular or
religious. Our prayerful, lighthearted group has read such
books as The Secret Life of Bees, Amazing Grace , and My Life
with the Saints.

Saturday Morning Book Club
This religious book club meets every Saturday morning at
10:00 am in the School to discuss its book selection.
Membership is open to all – parishioners and non parishioners,
men and women; however the group is mostly comprised of
women. The mission of the group is to grow spiritually and
intellectually. Books are chosen by group consensus. Recent
books include, Matthew Kelley’s Rhythm of Life, and Full of
Grace – Women and the Abundant Life, by Johnnette Benkovic.

The purpose of the Finance Committee is to consult with the Pastor in
financial matters. They receive and approve all annual budgets for the
Parish. They prepare an annual Parish budget consistent with the Parish

Ministry of Lector
Lectors proclaim the Word of the Lord at weekend liturgies. They are on a rotating schedule for Masses and may be requested to read at special liturgies throughout the year. New lectors must attend a training session.

Ministry of Music
The St. Brigid Ministry of Music offers the opportunity for parishioners to enhance the liturgical celebration through the use of their musical, vocal, and instrumental talents. Musicians, choir members, and cantors assist the whole congregation in participating in the sung parts of the Mass, such as hymns, acclamations, and psalms.
Traditional Choir – Open to all adult and young adult parishioners, this choir leads the music at the 11:30 a.m. Mass on the weekend and for special liturgical celebrations. They perform a range of music.

Contemporary Choir – This instrumental and vocal ensemble leads the music at the 10:00 a.m. Mass and offers mostly contemporary and some traditional repertoire. Membership is open to all adult and young adult parishioners.

Ministry of SacristanThe Sacristans prepare vestments and vessels for specific seasons and liturgies. They also ensure that vestments, vessels, and other liturgical materials are maintained, cleaned, or replaced as necessary, and set up for each rite.

Ministry of ServerServers assist the priest and members of the congregation during the liturgy. They lead the entrance procession and hold the book for the priest when he lifts his hands to pray in our name. They help prepare the altar before the Eucharistic prayer and do various tasks on special occasions such as carrying incense or holy water. Children are eligible to become altar servers in 5th grade. Adults serve at morning Masses during the week.

Ministry of Usher
Ushers greet members of the congregation as they arrive for Mass and help in finding seating for parishioners. They arrange for individuals or families to take up the offertory and collection and assist with the Communion procession. Additionally, they are attentive to special needs during the Mass, such as ensuring Communion is brought to those unable to walk. Any man, woman or older youth is invited to become a member of the Ministry of Usher.

SOCIAL JUSTICE COMMISSION
Members of the Social Justice Commission work to fulfill the parish
mission of global and social outreach. This Commission applies the
Church's Social Justice Teachings when adopting specific causes to
aid the homeless, the hungry, and other needy people. They reflect on,
study, support, participate in, and oversee parish involvement in various
social justice ministries within our community and throughout the region.
This Commission is called to be a catalyst of learning and living out
Catholic social teaching in our lives, in our parish, and in the larger
community. Under the prayerful guidance of the Spirit, we remain
open to growth in our own hearts and minds and seek to challenge
our parish community to become more active in reaching out and
working with others, to uphold the basic dignity of all people.
The Social Justice Commission meets every other month. We strive
to embrace the principles of Catholic social teaching and facilitate
parish participation in worthy causes such as Habitat for Humanity
and holiday giving to shut-ins or the less fortunate. All are welcome
to attend the meetings. Check the bulletin or parish calendar for
meeting dates.

St. Vincent de Paul Society
This organization provides financial assistance for emergency
coverage of overnight lodging, food, utilities, prescriptions, furniture,
and special needs for recipients who do not qualify for public
assistance or who are awaiting initiation of benefits. Those in need of
assistance can leave a message for the St. Vincent de Paul Society at

St. Brigid Parish participates in the Community Blood Center’s donor
program by having three blood drives each year.

The Caring Place
The Caring Place is an effort by local Christian churches to aid those
in need by providing a home-cooked meal once a week. The meals
are prepared by volunteers and served at Xenia's First Evangelical
Lutheran Church at 287 W. Main St. every Thursday evening.
St. Brigid Parish helps with this ministry about six times a year.

FISH Food Pantry
The FISH Food Pantry is a local nonprofit organization that serves the
needy of much of Greene County. The pantry is staffed 100% by
volunteers and primarily funded by donations. St. Brigid helps serve
the FISH Food Pantry through its many volunteers and board
members, by monetary donations, answering phones, filling customer
orders, and restocking shelves. Volunteers are always welcome.

Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing
ministry. The organizational invites volunteers to build houses
together in partnership with families in need. St. Brigid Parish
volunteers have worked countless hours to help build decent housing
for those in our community.
