St. Brigid: Parish

St. Brigid Parish is a vibrant and growing community of over two thousand individuals. Steeped in a history reaching back 150 years, our faith in God and Jesus Christ His Son has been unwavering. Join us in celebrating our faith by becoming a member of our Parish and help us serve the Lord with your own personal gifts.


Statistics

 
  • Parish Campus - The parish consists of the Church, Parish Office, School, Parish Activity Center, modular, storage building and St. Brigid Cemetery on W. Second St. in Xenia.
  • Church – St. Brigid Church, established in 1849, is the oldest of six Roman Catholic communities in Greene County and is the only Catholic parish in Xenia
 
  • Parish Membership – The first small group of pioneer Xenia Catholics numbered just five families. St. Brigid Parish currently has over 1,000 registered families with an estimated number of over 2,500 parishioners
 
  • Ministry Area – Serving primarily the central and south-central sections of Greene County, St. Brigid Parish is within the Springfield Deanery of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati.
 
  • Baptisms – 35 in 2009-2010 and 7 adults who entered the Church via the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).
 
  • RCIA – We have approximately 10 adults interested in joining the Church in 2010-2011;  5 adults entered the church in 2009-2010
 
  • Marriages – 11 in 2009-2010 and 4 in 2010-2011, including convalidations of prior non-sacramental marriages.
 
  • Deaths – 31 in 2010-2011; 24 in 2009-2010
 
  • Parish School of Religion – Approximately 106 students attended the weekly Parish School of Religion in grades Preschool-8 during the 2010-2011 school year.  In 2011-12, 126 students attend PSR.
  • St. Brigid Grade School - 160 students in 2011-2012;  173 students in 2010-2011

Registration

We extend a warm welcome to any individuals or families interested in membership in St. Brigid Parish. Members are encouraged to worship regularly with our community and share their gifts in service to the Lord in the numerous ministries provided by the parish for the life of the community and the larger Xenia area.

Members who move or anticipate moving from St. Brigid Parish are asked to notify the Parish Office. We also ask that you communicate any change in name and/or address so we can maintain a current database.

Becoming a Parishioner
All are welcome to become a part of the St. Brigid Parish community. Whether transferring from another parish, reviving your childhood Catholic roots, converting or are simply interested in becoming a Catholic – our doors are open to you.

How to Register
You will need to complete a registration form to become a member of St. Brigid Parish. The form can be downloaded through the link below. You can also contact the Parish Office to have one mailed to you or stop by the office to pick one up.

After completing the registration form, a member of our Welcome Committee will contact you to answer any questions and introduce you to our Parish family. You will also begin receiving Parish mailings and notices.
